The Golden Parrot backsplash is a 9-tile backsplash, which is small for most kitchens where we usually need 30 or 36 inches. Making it larger, however, has its own problems -- we don't want tiles to break in the middle of a bird's face, or worse, an eye and the design is just not very accommodating. A not-expensive workaround is fill out the space with field tile and make a frame with a complementary color pulled from the art tile itself.
Example backsplash design with six-inch medieval garden tiles and three-inch field tiles.*
*Glossy green, as well as field tiles in other colors, are available at most tile store, or big big box stores. Usually, without special order. I suggest waiting until you get your parrot tiles and taking one with you to the tile store to pick a field tile that you like.
