Through the dancing poppies stole /
A breeze most softly lulling to my soul.
~John Keats, Endymion
Poppy is an early William Morris design, 1870s. It clearly shows De Morgan's hand in implementation, and was sold through Morris and Co. I have poppy tiles available in yellow, red, salmon pink, tangerine, and Welsh blue.
Kelmscott House, William Morris's London Home, was first called "The Retreat" but Morris changed the name to "Kelmscott House" after his home in the Cotswalds, Kelmscott Manor. Morris installed poppies in the long drawing room at Kelmscott House in classic cobalt blue and white.
Poppy was a popular design. In addition to Victorian blue and white, Poppy was available in several colors.
Poppies are seamless on either the horizontal or vertical. As you can see in the photo on this page of the poppy fireplace tiles installed at the home of Morris's friend, Emergy Walker, they work well scrolling and side by side. If you would like your tiles to scroll, you can order half of your tiles reversed to align the stems.
Poppies are available on native white (a blue white) very light cream (a warm white), or a darker cream background.
Available Colors: salmon pink, golden yellow, red, Welsh blue (blue with green foliage), tangerine, Kelmscott blue and white (blue with blue foliage)
