A William Morris Design Embroidered by May Morris

Flower Pot was the first tile I made. It is a William Morris design and was first implemented as an embroidered pillow by his younger daughter, May Morris.

It is available both in marble and ceramic tiles. In marble, because the design does not cover the entire tile, natural variations in the marble will show through. These will vary from tile to tile. Some tiles have more "character" than others, meaning that the edges may not be perfect or other uniqueness about the tile. Because this design covers so much of the tile, I try to chose uniform tiles, unlike the Forest Animal Tiles. Nothing natural is perfect. See some base tiles.

May Morris, by Frederick Hollyer. A famous father's daughter, May was the younger of William Morris's two daughters, and decidedly the daughter he was closest to. Born at Red House, William Morris's first married home and built along the path Chaucer's pilgrims would have traveled, May was born a day-later birthay present to Morris on 25 March 1862.
