Why are so many of us enspelled by myths and folk stories in this modern age? Why do we continue to tell the same old tales, over and over again? Burne-Jones created nine Stars and Planets stained glass drawings that were then produced in stained glass by Morris and Co. in 1878. I discuss their history in greater detail on the Moon and Stars (More history there). These stained glass panels were created by William De Morgan at Morris & Co. When the company added tile to their offerings, De Morgan asked to lead that effort, bringing his stained glass experience with him. The lessons he learned in stained glass informed his tile glazes and created amazing lustre. These recipes were, unfortunately, never written down and have not been created by others since.
Each panel consists of 30 4.25 inch tiles. Together, they are 42.5 inches wide and 25.5 inches high.
